The winners of the 2024 United Nations World Oceans Day Photo Competition have been revealed. This annual contest invites photographers and artists from across the globe to capture and highlight the ocean’s beauty, challenges, and significance. According to the organizers: “This open and free competition aims to inspire images that reflect the ocean’s beauty, the issues it faces, and humanity’s connection to it, with the goal of encouraging actions to protect this essential resource.”
Finalists from nine countries were selected across five categories: Awaken New Depths, Small Island Developing States, Big and Small Underwater Faces, Underwater Seascapes, and Above Water Seascapes. The winners were chosen from thousands of entries submitted by both amateur and professional photographers worldwide.
